Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Garerth Bale or Alexis Sanchez are well-known for their termendous speed. FIFA’s study done on the footballers speed across the globe revealed that players from English Premier League have dominated the chart. Football clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, each have two players make it to the top 10 chart. To conclude the results of the study, FIFA have measured the top speeds of players across all major leagues during matches in recent months. However, some of the players like Hector Bellerin who is the fastest player in Arsenal is not included in the chart, whereby his fellow teammates like Alexis Sanchez make it to the top 10. Players like Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Agbonlahor or Raphael Varane are out of the top 10 as well. Perhaps these players are not regularly played as the first team for their respective club in recent months.

Without further delay, let’s find out who is the top 10 fastest footballers in 2015.

10. Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) – 30.1 km/h

The Chilean footballer who plays for English Club Arsenal and Chilean National Team run at a speed of 30.1km/h. The flamboyant forward moved from Barcelona to Arsenal in July 2014 for an estimated transfer fee of £35 million. With Arsenal, he has consistently displayed top quality performances and he is well known for his speed and dribbling skill.


9. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) – 30.4 km/h

Arjen Robben is known for his speed, dribbling ability and accurate finishing. The Dutch football who currently plies his trade at Bayern Munich, the biggest club in Bundesliga, has scored 75 goals in 132 appearances. Although Robben often gives the impression of he is very quick, he only managed to attain number 9 in the World’s Top 10 Fastest Footballers list.

8. Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich) – 30.7 km/h

Ribery, the French footballer plays in the same club as Arjen Robben. He is also often described as a player who has an excellent dribbling skill with fast pace. French legend, Zinedine Zidane has named Ribery the Jewel of French Football.

7. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) – 31.2 km/h


Wayne Rooney is an English forward, is also the captain for both Manchester United and the England National Team. Rooney is England’s all-time record goal scorer and most capped player.


6. Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – 32.5 km/h


Lionel Messi is considered the best player in the world. The Argentine forward is the only player in the history to win FIFA Ballond’Or Player of the Year for five times and he is the first player to win three European Golden Shoes. He is a terrific goalscorer, who holds a few Guinness World Records titles such as most goals scored in La Liga. On top of that, Messi’s speed is reported to be 32.5km/h, making him at no.6 of the Top 10 fastest footballers’ chart.


5. Theo Walcott (Arsenal) – 32.7 km/h


26 years old Walcott is an English Professional footballer who plays as a forward for Arsenal and the England national team. Walcott is famous for this speedy pace. At a speed of 32.7km/h, Walcott has been named by FIFA as one of top 10 fastest players in the world. Walcott has been the fastest player in Arsenal, however, in a recent interview, Walcott revealed that Bellerin has broken his sprint record.


4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) – 33.6 km/h


At number 4 is Christiano Ronaldo, whose speed is 33.6km/h. Like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo is often ranked as the best player in the world. Media enjoys comparing Cristiano Ronaldo with Lionel Messi. The Portuguese player who is now playing for Spanish club Real Madrid has won three FIFA Ballon d’Or World Player of the year.


3. Aaron Lennon (Tottenham, on loan at Everton) – 33.8 km/h

Aaron Lennon, who primarily plays as a winger for Everton and the England National Team, is well recognised for fast pace. Aaron might not be as well known as players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, however he beats them in term of speed.


2. Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) – 34.7 km/h.


Gareth Bale is Cristiano Ronaldo teammates in Real Madrid. Bale has been regarded as the player with lightning speed. The Welsh winger is not only well known for tremendous speed, but also for his excellent crossing ability. According to FIFA, Bale is the second fastest footballer in the world with speed of 34.7km/h.

1. Antonio Valencia (Manchester United) – 35.1 km/h

Antonio Valencia is crowned as the fastest player in the world based on a study done by FIFA. The Ecuadorian footballer who plays as a right winger and right-back for Manchester United and the Ecuador national team was bought over to Manchester United in 2009. It is quite a surprising fact that Valencia is the fastest footballer in the world as he is not often know for his pace but his defensive skill.
